    Specific duties include but are not limited to

    The Manufacturing Engineering Technologist will play a key role in supporting the development of products from the design to production phases. The ideal candidate will be versatile in performing proto builds and well as developing clear manufacturing/process instructions for Assembly personnel to follow. This candidate will also be able to analyze data and trends and make recommendations for product improvements and drive engineering changes for all products

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Support  new product implementation projects by utilizing knowledge of printed circuit board assembly and box build manufacturing processes
    • Participate with the design team and provide feedback to enhance products for manufacturability and cost reduction
    • Perform proto builds for new products using simple assembly tools.
    • Create and maintain process/manufacturing instructions for products from the proto stage to production.
    • Co-ordinate and implement engineering changes.
    • Drive closure for engineering changes
    • Perform drawing updates and using Autocad and/or Adobe Illustrator
    • Assist the production floor to resolve manufacturing issues
    • Participate in cross-functional teams to address customer issues
    • Perform Design For Manufacturability (DFM) and Design For Assembly (DFA) reviews for printed circuit board and box assembly designs.
    • Support product build activities to bring a product from design to prototype builds
    • Provide engineering support to ensure a smooth transition of product from prototype to production
    • The review manufacturing process at contract manufacturers during the New Product Introduction (NPI) stage and recommend/ approve a process for manufacturing.
    • Analyze defect trends at contract manufacturers and recommend /approve corrective solutions.
    • Support product builds at Contract Manufactures’ to ensure that targets are met in a timely and efficient manner.
    • Provide on-going support to Contract Manufactures and in-house to ensure timely builds and provide onsite support as needed in emergencies and crisis.
    • Work closely with Quality Engineers within the company to resolve issues.
    • Recommend and implement cost-saving initiatives.
    • Provide sustaining engineering support to mature products.
    • Provide technical support and guidance to printed circuit board (PCB) suppliers.

    Qualifications

    Key Requirements:

    • 3-5 years in the electronics manufacture industry
    • Knowledge of PCBA manufacturing process ( SMT, Wave Solder, final assembly, etc)
    • Knowledge of BOX builds
    • Knowledge of Autocad and/or Adobe Illustrator
    • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office including Powerpoint, Excel, and Word
    • Knowledge of IPC
