Specific duties include but are not limited to

Imagine Communications is seeking a QA Analyst to help with the development of a suite of professional products for bringing video to wider audiences and new viewing platforms. You will be responsible for maintaining and executing automated/manual test cases for software and hardware products. In this role you will prepare detailed reports of test results, provide input to test plans and strategies, and log bugs and feature requests. You will also work closely with the QA leads, product managers and software developers to ensure that QA goals have been met.

 

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Assist with the implementation of automated tests and the tools to make them possible
  • Maintain and enhance continuous integration and test framework
  • Assist in designing QA methodologies and analyzing project documents to identify test requirements
  • Develop and execute test cases for functional/acceptance testing, integration/regression testing, system and performance testing
  • Identify areas for QA automation, collect test data requirements, develop new metrics and techniques to maximize testing efficiency and scalability
  • Utilize and integrate latest Windows hardware and software, in combination with industry applications and tools to perform analysis, testing, and validation
  • Identify, analyze and document defects found during testing, such as bug replication and verification, end-to-end tracking of all issues found
  • Participate in planning, estimation and prioritization processes for all testing activities in an Agile development team.      
  • Install, configure and maintain software/hardware configurations to support various testing scenarios and QA environments
  • Provide comprehensive work summaries and test result reports throughout the product release life cycle 

Qualifications

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or Advanced College Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
  • 2 years or more of R&D experience in a technology-related industry or equivalent experience in an IT role is preferred
  • Experience gained through co-operative education work terms will be considered
  • Experience with QA methodologies, software testing principles, concepts, verification/ validation techniques, and test management
  • Demonstrated excellent analytical and problem solving skills in computer software and hardware
  • Experience with scripting and software development tools
  • Working knowledge of Java, Web Services, XML, and databases
  • Knowledge of network architectures, communication protocols in LAN/WAN environments, experience working with routers, switches and firewalls
  • Highly self-motivated, showing close attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in system integration testing on complex systems
  • Thorough understanding of Windows 7/8/10 and Server 2012
  • Must be a Canadian resident

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to digital media industry, video compression/streaming technologies such as MPEG-2, Transport Stream, OTT, or a related field is beneficial
  • Strong knowledge of cloud solutions and virtual server environments such as vSphere, Hyper-V, OpenStack
  • Previous experience troubleshooting network communication issues using Wireshark
  • Previous experience testing real-time systems
  • Previous experience with continuous integration
  • Previous experience working with video and network signal analyzers is beneficial
